Daughter of Enid Olive Morris (1928-2026) and railwayman James Quinton “Jim” Durward (1928-2003), her family lived successively at Brandon, Souris, Thunder Bay, and Winnipeg. She was married twice, first to ? Hall with whom she had two sons and second to Wilfred Remi Taillieu.

She ran as a Conservative for the Morris constituency in the 2003 provincial general election and was elected by a wide margin. Re-elected in 2007 and 2011, she resigned in February 2013.
