Memorable Manitobans: Adam Synowiecki (1901-1970)Diplomat, editor. Born in Poland on 22 January 1901, he studied law and political science in Krakow, Poland and The Hague, The Netherlands. Prior to the Second World War, he served in the Polish diplomatic service in Czechoslovakia, Russia, Greece, and Warsaw (Poland). During the war, he was Secretary at the Polish Embassy in Bucharest, Romania and in Italy, and later in France and England with the Polish Government in Exile. He was Polish Consul General (1944-1946) then spent 24 years as Editor of the weekly newspaper Polish Times, serving until his death. He and wife Stanislawa Synowiecki (?-?) had no children. He died at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 4 January 1970 and was buried in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Sources:Obituary, Winnipeg Free Press, 9 January 1970.
