Memorable Manitobans: Vsevolod John Swystun (1921-1966)

Lawyer.

Born at Cote, Saskatchewan in 1921, son of Wasyl Swystun and Olga Swystun (1901-1969), he enlisted in Canadian military forces in 1940 and served overseas with the RCASC. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Staff Captain. He graduated with a law degree from the Manitoba Law School in 1948 then practiced law with his father in the firm of Swystun, Swystun and Company. He was President of the Ukrainian Canadian Legion Branch 141, the Ukrainian Professional and Business Men's Club, and the Settlers Savings and Mortgage Corporation. He was made a Queen's Counsel in 1966. He died at the Misericordia Hospital on 26 March 1966 and was buried in the Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
