Retail merchant.
Born at Frome, Mendip District, Some, England on 27 June 1862, he immigrated to Canada with his wife in 1884. He eventually came to Winnipeg and opened a retail grocery store, later expanding and establishing the W. H. Stone Company Limited which operated multiple stores. He served for a short time as a trustee for the Winnipeg School Division. He and wife Ellen K. Allen (1860-?) had no children. After retirement from business, he traveled in England for more than a year before settling in British Columbia where he died at Oak Bay on 11 June 1941. He was buried there in the Royal Oak Burial Park Cemetery.
