Businessman.
Born at St. Mary’s, Ontario on 1 September 1857, the third son of Rev. Walter Preston, he moved to Winnipeg where he was the senior partner in the importing firm of Preston and Norris. Later he opened the real estate department of the National Trust Company, later forming his own firm of N. R. Preston and Company.
He married Myrta Helen Hunter (1866-1959) of Lincoln, Illinois and they had two daughters: Norma Kathleen Preston (1891-1969, wife of Raymond Kerr Elliott) and Marjorie Irene Preston. He was an early member of Grace United Church.
He died at his Winnipeg residence, 207 Mayfair Avenue, on 2 April 1940 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery. His pallbearers were Henry Platt Grundy, Furry Ferguson “Ray” Montague, Lewis J. Howe, W. S. Kickley, J. McDowell, and Clarence Nicholas “Choney” Bawlf.
