Memorable Manitobans: Joseph H. Prefontaine (1859-?)

Click to enlargeFarmer, MLA (1903-1907).

He and his wife Georginie Senecal (1864-?) came from Beloeil, Quebec and settled on a farm near St. Eustache, Manitoba where he raised horses and twelve children. He served as Reeve of the Rural Municipality of St. Francois Xavier from 1901 and 1903, and a member of the Manitoba Legislature from 1903 to 1907. In later years he served on the council for the Rural Municipality of Cartier.
