Memorable Manitobans: Cornel Piper (1937-2018)Football player. Born at Ardmore, Alberta on 2 April 1937, son of Karp Hrycauk (c1902-1987) and Anna Hrycauk (?-1961), brother of Peter Piper, he moved with his family to Winnipeg at an early age. He played eleven seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League (1957-1967) and won four Grey Cups. He was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame as member of the 1955 Winnipeg Rods and for individual accomplishment (2019). He was also inducted into the Order of the Buffalo Hunt as a member of the 1957 Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He died at Comox, British Columbia on 2 September 2018. Sources:Obituary [Rev.
