Memorable Manitobans: George A. McCrindle (1913-1999)

Farmer, municipal official.

Born on the family farm in the RM of Birtle on 14 January 1913, he specialized in seed growing. He served as Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Ellice (1957-1960), was President of the Manitoba Seed Growers Association (1971), and was a member of the board for the Foxwarren Athletic Association (circa 1949), Foxwarren United Church (1947-1982), and Foxwarren School (1951-1957). He was a member of the Masons. In 1986, his name was added to the Roll of Honour of the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame. He died at Birtle on 29 July 1999 and was buried in the Foxwarren Cemetery.
