Businessman.
Born in 1950, son of Edward “Ed” Mazer (1909-1996) and Florence Rita Lacaille (1923-2024), he began farming at the age of 17 and, in 1969, joined the family agricultural equipment dealership in Brandon. He grew the company into Mazergroup, a major business network with 18 locations across Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He served as President of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce (1990-1991).
He was married twice, first on 25 June 1977 to Mary Jane Young of Minot, North Dakota. On 20 December 1980, he married Patricia “Patti” McGill (daughter of Edward Robert McGill) and they had two sons. He chaired fundraising campaigns for Assiniboine College and was given one of its first honorary degrees. He was Brandon’s Businessperson of the Year (1998) and Mazergroup was Dealership of the Year (2024). He was inducted into the Farm Equipment Dealership Hall of Fame.
He died at Brandon on 6 July 2025.
