Memorable Manitobans: Peter Loewen (c1924-2010)

Teacher, civil servant, municipal official.

He grew up in Silberfeld, Manitoba and lived his adult life in Gretna and Winnipeg. He worked as a school teacher, served in the RCAF during the Second World War, and spent most of the working life with the federal department of customs and excise. He was Mayor of Gretna from 1958 to 1970. He was a member of the Altona Hospital Board. He died at St. Catharines, Ontario on 1 May 2010.
