Memorable Manitobans: Frederick Arthur Edmond Leach (1875-1930)

Jeweller, optician.

Born in Ontario on 23 May 1875, son of Rev. John J. Leach and Emma Purkis, by 1901 he was working as a jeweller at Neepawa, Manitoba. In 1909, he was appointed to the first Board of Examiners of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists. On 9 January 1901, he was married to Alice Victoria Riesberry (1877-?) at Oxford, Ontario. They had three children: Audrey Edith Leach (b 1902), Mabel Olive Leach (1904-1908), and John Arthur Leach (b 1906), all born at Neepawa.

He died at Neepawa on 22 July 1930.
