Memorable Manitobans: Harold Thorvald “Bud” Kummen (1916-2006)Businessman. Born at Winnipeg on 7 October 1916, son of Carl Toreson Kummen and Mary Emily Olsson (c1888-1952), he was educated at Earl Grey School and Kelvin High School, and received a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba (1941). During the Second World War, he served as a Lieutenant in the RCNVR. He then joined the family electrical business Kummen-Shipman Electric Limited, managing it until his retirement. He served as a President of the Winnipeg Construction Association and Winnipeg Executive Association. He died at Winnipeg on 25 March 2006, survived by his wife and two sons.
