Memorable Manitobans: Charles “Charlie” Krupp (1906-1958)Sportsman, philanthropist. President of Associated Theatre Services, Vice-President of Canadian Picture Pioneers, and President of Film Delivery Services, he was a founding member and President (1950-1951) of the Maple Leaf Curling Club, as well as a member of B’nai B’rith. In the early thirties, Krupp was a star softball player and known for his cigar and good cheer, becoming an unofficial ambassador for Western Canadian Jewry. He died of a heart attack while curling on 21 January 1958 and was buried in the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. He was inducted posthumously into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.
