Businessman, community activist.
Born at Kozowa, Poland in 1925 to Stafa (c1904-?) and Antoni “Tony” Kramarczuk (c1894-?), he arrived with his family in Canada in 1929. He lived the rest of his life at Carberry, except for the years spent in the service of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a bomber pilot during the Second World War. In 1946, he received the Bronze Cross for heroism.
In 1953, he married Gene Ethel Kitson (1928-2024) with whom he went on to have four children. They owned and operated the Style Shop at Carberry, retiring in 1987. Meanwhile, he was heavily involved in the community. He worked with the Boy Scouts, taught Sunday School, coached minor league hockey, was a volunteer fireman, and volunteered at the Children's Aid Camp. He was also involved with the formation of the Spruce Woods Provincial Park, the Carberry Ball Park, the Seton Centre (a museum dedicated to naturalist and author Ernest Thompson Seton), and the Junior Rifle Club. He served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Carberry District School Board and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Elks Lodge, Carberry Fair Board, Game and Fish Association, and International Order of Odd Fellows. In 2006, he received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Carberry Chamber of Commerce.
He and his wife indulged their appreciation for nature while spending time at Spruce Woods and Delta Beach. His daily morning routine began with filling bird feeders, caring for stray cats, and enjoying his garden.
He died at Brandon on 10 October 2011.
