Insurance broker, community activist.
Born in Ukraine on 6 March 1899, he and his family came to Canada in 1910. After completing his education, he worked for the Canadian Ukrainian newspaper. He took courses and became an insurance broker, working for 45 years at Winnipeg and Toronto.
He and wife Marie Zubachek (1901-1995) had no children. Active in the community, he assisted in the formation of the Canadian Ukrainian Athletic Club in 1926 and served as its President (1927-1929, 1934). He organized CUAC bowling leagues in 1930 and was made an honorary life member in 1938. He served for six years on the Civic Charities Endorsement Bureau. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ukrainian Mutual Benefit Association of St. Nicholas, and Ukrainian Professional and Business Men's Club. In recognition of his service, he received a City of Winnipeg Community Service Award (1967) and a Shevchenko Medal (1977).
He died at the Misericordia Hospital on 25 May 1978 and was buried in the Holy Family Cemetery.
