Memorable Manitobans: William Thomas Jenkinson (c1897-1953)

Municipal official.

Born around 1897, he was a school trustee in West Kildonan and Chairman (1949-1952) of the West Kildonan School District. In 1950, he laid the cornerstone of the second Governor Semple School. On 15 August 1925, he married Agnes Downie Ingles Harper (c1899-1990) at Winnipeg and had two daughters. He died at Winnipeg on 16 December 1953 and was buried in St. John’s Cemetery. He is commemorated with the W. T. Jenkinson Memorial scholarship in the Seven Oaks School Division.
