Writer.
Born at Winnipeg in 1937, the youngest of eight children, his childhood was spent in Charleswood. After receiving a BA degree from the University of Manitoba (1961), he worked for several years as a research and educational secretary at the Alcohol Education Service. He was the public relations director for the Manitoba Dental Association (1965-1968) and Royal Winnipeg Ballet (1968-1970) then managing director for the Contemporary Dancers (1970-1975) and director for the University Centre at the University of Manitoba (1975-1977).
In the mid-1970s, he bought a small farm near Sperling where he built a home and lived for 28 years. Later, he bought a movie theatre at Carman. He sold the theatre in 1984 and started a print advertising business that evolved into seven periodicals in south-central Manitoba. He wrote The Story of Sperling (1994).
He sold his farm in 2004 and moved to a new home in Headingley. He sold most of his business interests in 2007 and retired. He was married twice, first in 1960 to Ruth Hajek and second in 1974 to Carol Archibald, having a child with each one. His hobbies included tennis and other racquet sports, golf, woodworking, cycling, skiing, gardening, reading, wine and spirits making, violin playing, boatbuilding, and sailing.
