Nestor Alexander “Mickey” Hersak

Educator, farmer, conservationist.

Born on a farm near Oakburn in 1938, he attended the Manitoba Teachers’ College then became Principal at the Mafeking Village School (1957-1958). He then took a teaching position at Boissevain High School before moving to Winnipeg, where he taught at Vincent Massey Collegiate for over 30 years. He was an active member of Ducks Unlimited Canada, the Delta Waterfowl Foundation, and other conservation organizations.
