Memorable Manitobans: Isabelle Burton Allan Heeney (1902-1996)

Historian.

Born in the Rural Municipality of Elton on 11 May 1902, daughter of John Allan and Annie Burton, she was active in the community, taking a special interest in the local 4H Club, Daly House Museum, and the Grand Valley School Memorial Society that erected monuments commemorating the former town site of Grand Valley and the Grand Valley School. On 21 October 1931, she married Frederick J. Heeney at Brandon. She died at Brandon on 2 June 1996 and was buried in the Brandon Cemetery.
