Memorable Manitobans: Thomas William Grindley (1901-1969)Municipal official. Born in the Isle of Man in 1901, he attended the University of Alberta, receiving BA (1923) and BSc Agriculture (1925) degrees, and graduating as a Gold Medallist. He received MA (1927) and PhD (1929) degrees from the University of Minnesota then worked as Chief of the Agriculture Branch of the Dominion Bureau of Statistics at Ottawa, Ontario from 1930 to 1932. He moved to Winnipeg and served as a Secretary (1935-1937) and Commissioner (1948-1950) of the Canadian Wheat Board. He was later associated with the Maple Leaf Milling Company. He died at Winnipeg on 15 June 1969, following a lengthy illness, and was buried at Edmonton Cemetery. He was survived by a widow and two children.
