Memorable Manitobans: Roy Joseph Fijal (1925-2006)


Born at Winnipeg on 22 November 1925, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 17 and served in the North Atlantic. Following his military discharge, he began a career in graphic arts and advertising, working at Brigdens for a time, and retiring in 1983 as advertising supervisor at MTS. He taught classes in watercolours and photo-realistic portraiture for over 50 years. He died at Winnipeg on 13 December 2006.
