Memorable Manitobans: Glenn Wayne Dressel (1943-1998)
Born at Bassano, Alberta on 11 September 1943, son of Herman and Eleanor Dressel, he grew up on the family farm at Olds, Alberta. He was employed at numerous credit unions, including the Managership of the Starbuck Credit Union at Starbuck. Prior to his death, he was Director of Transportation with Chinook’s Edge Regional Division #5 at Innisfail, Alberta.
On 4 July 1970, he married Caroline Margaret Murray in Trinity United Church at Portage la Prairie and they subsequently had two children. The couple divorced in 1991. Active in the community, he served as Trustee and Chairman of the Morris Macdonald School Division, as well as a Councillor and Reeve (1992-1995) for the RM of Macdonald. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed basketball, bowling, fastball, football, and golf.
He died at Calgary, Alberta on 16 July 1998 and was buried in Bowden Cemetery at Bowden, Alberta.
