Memorable Manitobans: George E. Down (1913-1994)

Community activist.

Born at Holland, Manitoba on 4 February 1913, son of Joseph and Olive Down. He served for 39 years on the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Agricultural Museum, for which he received the Prix Manitoba Award. He died at Portage la Prairie on 31 July 1994 and was buried in Brookdale Cemetery.
