Memorable Manitobans: Leona Rebecca Chapman (1864-1924)Educator. Born at Oshawa, Ontario on 3 August 1864, she joined the staff of the Winnipeg School Board in August 1891 and taught for 22 years in Winnipeg schools, at Norquay School (1891-1901) and as Principal of Albert School (1901-1912, 1913-1914). She retired on account of failing health and moved to the United States in pursuit of warmer climate. She died, unmarried, at Los Angeles, California on 17 May 1924.
