Broadcaster.
Born at Winnipeg on 31 January 1913, son of Percival John “Percy” Burchell and Lydia Rose Herring, during the Second World War, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy and, after his military discharge, he continued to participate in activities of HMCS Chippawa. He was an announcer on radio and television for CBC Manitoba.
On 21 September 1940, he married Barbara Marion Pepler (1914-1995) at Winnipeg and they had a daughter. He was a founding member of the Royal Manitoba Yacht Club and spent summers at Lake of the Woods. He died on 15 October 1994 and was buried in the Chapel Law Memorial Gardens.
