Memorable Manitobans: Michael Baroni (1879-1945)

Hotelier.

Born in Switzerland on 21 March 1879, he came to Canada in 1905 and, in 1913, he was operating the Saratoga Hotel in Winnipeg. In 1928, he moved to Neepawa to operate the Hamilton Hotel until shortly before his death. In 1933, he was an original executive member of the Riding Mountain Association. He died at Neepawa on 9 July 1945 and was buried in the Neepawa Riverside Cemetery.
