Manitoba Organization: West Kildonan Curling Club

The club was established in 1919 with a three-sheet rink located in Old Kildonan, on Scotia Street near Nesbitt Hall. After 10 years, club participation dropped. From 1929 to 1938, the club was without a home and rented ice successively at the Thistle, Civic, and St. Johns clubs. In 1938, the club purchased land at 210 Enniskillen Avenue just off Main Street near the Seven Oaks Monument (an historic marker that was embodied in the club crest) and a new clubhouse was built with three sheets. By 1952, it had been expanded to five sheets by adding a sheet to each side. Artificial ice was installed in 1958.

A downturn in the popularity of curling, combined with financial concerns, caused the club to close its doors after the 2016-2017 season.
