Historic Sites of Manitoba: St. Mary’s Anglican Church (Ridgeville, Municipality of Emerson-Franklin)

A wooden church building in Ridgeville, in the Municipality of Emerson-Franklin, was built in 1906 with the aid of missionary monies from the Church of England. Some of its stained glass windows came from the Old St. George’s Anglican Church in Winnipeg. An addition for a Sunday School was built in 1963 and a parish hall was added in 1965. Renovations included a remodeled chancel and a new steeple to replace the original one destroyed in a windstorm. A rededication ceremony was held on 1 October 1977. It became a municipally designated historic site in 2003. With declining attendance, the church closed in November 2005 and its records were transferred to the Archdiocese of Rupertsland Archives. The building was sold to the Universal Free Church of Jesus Christ then re-sold to a succession of people.

At the time of a 2020 site visit, the contents of the building had been removed with the interior gutted to its foundations.
