Historic Sites of Manitoba: Gunton Methodist Church / Gunton United Church (Gunton, RM of Rockwood)

A Methodist Church at Gunton, in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood, was built and opened in 1907. It drew most of its initial congregation from the Greenridge congregation, where Methodist worship services and Sunday school had been held in local homes and the Greenridge School. Some members of the Greenridge congregation instead joined Balmoral Methodist Church. In 1912, the Gunton congregation merged with that of Windsor Presbyterian Church. It became Gunton United Church in 1925.

In 1960, Gunton became part of the Teulon Pastoral Charge, alongside Teulon and Balmoral. The church closed in early 1987 because of declining attendance and financial support.
