Historic Sites of Manitoba: Diamond Court / Flora Apartments (220 Flora Avenue, Winnipeg)

Formerly located on Flora Avenue in Winnipeg, a three-storey red brick and Tyndall Stone trimmed, Renaissance Revival-style building, measuring 38 feet by 79 feet, was designed by civil engineer Herman Saltzman and built in 1914 at a cost of about $30,000, for owner Abraham Diamond. In its original configuration, the building contained 14 residential apartments.

Originally known as the Diamond Court, it was renamed in 1919 to the Flora Apartments. In late 1966, in conjunction with the Lord Selkirk Park housing development, the building was purchased by the city and demolished in Spring 1967. No vestige of the building remains today.
