Sportscaster.
Born at Fort William (now Thunder Bay), Ontario on 8 June 1946, son of Harold Young (?-1992) and Zita Tapsay (?-2008), he graduated from St. Patrick High School in 1964 and Lakehead University in 1969. As a teenager he covered local sports then worked in radio and television in Thunder Bay before moving to Winnipeg.
There, he joined the staff of CKY Television and spent 20 years there, covering Winnipeg Jets games, Winnipeg Blue Bombers games, and university sports. He hosted Wide World of Sports and a weekly CFL highlights show on ESPN. He worked at Olympic Games in Sarajevo (1984), Los Angeles (1984), and Calgary (1988). In 1983, he was named ACTRA Sportscaster of the Year. He began doing play-by-play announcing of Winnipeg Goldeyes games. He later ran a video production and sports consulting company and held management teams in Florida, Alberta, and Arizona. He was inducted into the Northwestern Sports Hall of Fame (2023) and Manitoba Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association Media Roll of Honour (2025).
On 24 August 1968, he married Keitha Marlene Smart and they had two sons.
He died at the Riverview Health Centre on 2 February 2026.
