Merchant.
Born in Quebec on 25 November 1859, he came to Winnipeg in the early 1880s and founded the retail clothing firm of White and Manahan located at 496 Main Street.
He and wife Sarah Etta Wadleigh (1869-1921) had three children: William John White (1894-?), J. Percy White (1896-?), and Myrtle Eva White (1897-1996, wife of Frederick McGuinness). An avid curler, he was made a Life Member of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club (?) and Manitoba Curling Association (1920). Following the death of William Whyte, who had donated prizes for the veterans’ competition at the annual bonspiel, White continued the sponsorship, which became known as the W. G. White Cup competition.
He died at Los Angeles, California on 3 March 1922 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
