Memorable Manitobans: George A. Tucker (1836-1916)Farmer. Born in Northumberland County, Upper Canada, in 1836. He married Jane Carter of Northumberland and they had seven children. He came to Manitoba in 1873 over the Dawson Route and settled about five miles north-east of Portage la Prairie. He acted as school trustee for the Cochrane district for many years.
