Memorable Manitobans: Samuel Langtree Thompson (1902-1974)

Building contractor.

Born at Belfast, Ireland on 8 February 1902, son of Joseph Thompson (1852-1928) and Agnes Thompson (1859-1930), he came to Canada with his family in 1907 and later worked in Winnipeg as a building contractor, specializing in houses in River Heights and Tuxedo.

He and wife Eleanor Ruth Culbert (1915-1984) had two daughters: Elaine Thompson (1926-?) and Bethol Thompson (1928-?). They lived at 195 Cordova Street (c1931) and 49 Fulham Crescent (?). He died at Vancouver, British Columbia on 24 February 1974.
