Memorable Manitobans: Leo Victor Teillet (1950-2014)

Lawyer, community activist.

A descendant of Louis Riel, he helped to start La Brigade de la Riviere Rouge and volunteered at the Festival du Voyageur, serving a two-year term as its President. He worked with the Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine to preserve French language rights in Manitoba, and served on the board of the Manitoba Metis Federation. He died at Winnipeg on 9 May 2014 and was buried in the St-Pierre-Jolys Cemetery.
