Memorable Manitobans: Garth Ross Taylor (1922-2002)Journalist. Born at Oak Lake in 1922, son of George F. Taylor, he was raised on the family farm. He received a BA degree from Brandon College then began a career in journalism as a reporter at Kingston, Ontario. He returned to Manitoba to joined the staff of the Winnipeg Free Press, working as a reporter and later as News Editor. Moving to CBC Manitoba, he was a reporter, producer, and director for such programs as Country Canada, Points West, and Country Calendar. He was a member of The Nor'Westers (1988).
