Memorable Manitobans: Nicolas Constantin Tauffenbach (1829-1890)Painter, sculptor. Born at Metz, France in 1829, he studied at Düsseldorf, Germany then became a travelling painter in France, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. In 1872, he arrived at Montréal and in 1884 moved to Manitoba. He painted portraits of Mgr. Ritchot, Pierre Falcon, and Elzéar Lagimodière. He died at Ste. Anne on 2 May 1890. See also:
