Memorable Manitobans: John Tait (1858-?)Farmer. Born at Renfrew, Ontario on 25 December 1858, he came to Manitoba in 1881. He purchased farm land near Manitou and added to his holdings through the years. On 17 January 1896, he married Laura Bell Jones and they had two sons and four daughters. For several years, he was a trustee for the Manitou Consolidated School District and he helped to organize the Middleton School District.
