Memorable Manitobans: Edward “Ed” Sweeney (1934-2013)Curator, historian. Born at Winnipeg on 9 September 1934, he researched and wrote books about Manitoba hockey history for over 40 years. He was a Director of the Manitoba Hockey Foundation and was a former curator of the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame. In October 2005, he was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame for his contributions as a historian. He died at Winnipeg on 6 March 2013 and is commemorated by the Ed Sweeney Memorial Awards.
