Memorable Manitobans: Mike Sokolowiski (?-1919)Victim. Little is known about him apart from his death, on 21 June, in the midst of a melee in front of Winnipeg City Hall during a demonstration connected with the Winnipeg General Strike. He was shot through the heart. According to one newspaper account he was of Austrian birth and lived with a wife and three children at 552 Henry Avenue. That same account had him shot while in the act of throwing a stone at the Mounted Police. More information:
