Journalist, community activist.
Born at Vohlynia, Ukraine in 1883, he came to Canada in 1911 and moved to Winnipeg in 1920.
He was Editor of the Ukrainian Labor News and of the People's Gazette (1920-1940) and, in 1942, he founded the Ukrainian Word. He was a founder of the Ukrainian Labor Farmer Temple Association (later known as the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians) and the Workers Benevolent Association of Canada. He produced many amateur dramas in the Ukrainian Labour Temple and was interested in cultural and musical work.
On 3 June 1922, he married Kathleen Semeniuk (1896-2005) at Winnipeg and they subsequently had a son, Myron Shatulsky (1930-2023). He died at his Winnipeg home, 637 Machray Avenue, on 20 December 1952 and was buried in the Brookside Cemetery. A bust of him is displayed at the Ukrainian Labour Temple.
