Memorable Manitobans: Bruce LeRiche Rudd (1936-2000)

Journalist.

Born at London, Ontario in 1936, he attended Ridley College and earned bachelor and law degrees from the University of Western Ontario. Though called to the Ontario Bar, he instead entered into a 28-year career in the newspaper business. He worked for both FP Publications and Thomson Newspapers, with postings in Ottawa, Lethbridge, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Peterborough. He served as Publisher of the Winnipeg Free Press from 1990 until his retirement in 1992. He died of cancer on 8 January 2000.
