Memorable Manitobans: Clarence Pettersen (c1953-2018)

Educator, MLA (2011-2016).

He was a school teacher for 33 years before running as an NDP candidate for Flin Flon in the 2011 provincial general election, winning by a large margin. He supported a group of five MLAs who called for the resignation of Premier Greg Selinger and, as a consequence, he lost the NDP nomination for his constituency. He ran as an Independent in the 2016 general election but came in a distant fourth place. He died at Flin Flon on 28 March 2018.
