Memorable Manitobans: James Penman (1847-?)Farmer. Born at Lanark, Ontario, 1847. Came West in 1875, British Columbia. Settled in Manitoba in 1878. Homesteaded North Half, 19-4-9. Has added to his holdings until he farmed 660 acres. Married Martha Lougheed, June 1882, born in Lanark, came West at time of marriage, (deceased). Had three sons and five daughters.
