Horticulturist.
Born at London, England on 23 July 1879, son of John D. Moore and Mary Parker, he worked as a horticulturist at Kew Gardens before moving to the United States where he was on the staff of Cornell University. He later accepted a position with the Ontario provincial government which he held until his death. He was one of Canada's leading horticulturists. He laid out the beautification of the Niagara peninsula and the Queen Elizabeth Highway. He was appointed by the Manitoba government to beautify the inter-provincial highway entering from Ontario. In the late 1920s, he proposed to establish a garden somewhere on the Canada-American border and a site near Boissevain was ultimately selected. He assisted with its design and ultimately served as Honorary President of the International Peace Garden Incorporated. He died at Kingston, Ontario on 21 September 1946 and was buried in the Park Lawn Cemetery at Toronto. He was survived by his wife Gertrude May Barlow (1889-1986), a son, and a daughter.
