Memorable Manitobans: Walter Ellard McCann (1887-1945)

Educator.

Born in Quebec on 15 April 1887, son of John McCann (c1831-?) and Searia? Ann McCann (c1844-?), he came to Manitoba, married Norah Ellen Cruttwell (1882-?) at Winnipeg on 2 May 1919, and was the Principal of Springfield School (1919-1922) in Transcona. He later worked as a clerk in the merchant marine. He died at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on 13 April 1945 and his cremains were interred in the Beechwood Cemetery.
