Surveyor.
Born at Portage la Prairie on 30 October 1946, youngest of three children of Gordon Samuel Kitchen (1916-2001) and Isabella "Belle" Lowdon (1917-2007), his childhood was spent on a farm west of Poplar Point. He attended East Poplar Point School and Portage Collegiate Institute.
In 1967, he married Joan Smith and they moved to St. Vital where they had a son and a daughter. For several years he worked as a surveys technicals for the Manitoba government then studied to certify as a Land Surveyor that he practiced with the Government of Canada until retirement in 2005. He served as President of the Association of Manitoba Land Surveyors and President of the Canadian Land Surveyors.
He died at the Victoria Hospital on 13 January 2026.
