Memorable Manitobans: Morris Kaplan (1924-2007)

Horse racer.

Born at Winnipeg in 1924, son of Joseph Kaplan (?-1966) and Fanny Efros (1895-1991), he was a horse owner, breeder, and a race handicapper who served many years in the chairmanship of the Manitoba Horse Racing Commission. He worked to assure the long term viability of Assiniboia Downs Racetrack. He died unmarried on 29 January 2007.
