Memorable Manitobans: Bryon Donald Johnson (c1938-2003)


Born at Blackpool, England around 1938, he served as an officer in the in the British and Canadian military. He sang at Queen Elizabeth’s wedding and coronation, was a member of the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel Boys’ Choir and sang in the 1951 film The Christmas Carol. In 1974, he founded the Winnipeg insurance firm of Johnson-Mellor and Associates Limited. He enjoyed golfing, snooker and received his Queen’s Scout and Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation Medal from Queen Elizabeth. He died at Winnipeg on 16 March 2003.
