Born Water down, Ontario, 15 January 1877, son of Fannie and Stewart Houston, M.A., D. C.L., Dean of Diocese of Niagara. Educated at High School, Stamford, Ontario; Collegiate Institute, Niagara Falls, Ontario. Junior, Imperial Bank of Canada, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, 1897-1900; accountant, Winnipeg, 1904-

In 1911, Houston was Manager of the Imperial Bank of Canada, with branches at Port Arthur and Fort William, Ontario.
